Modern transport construction, in addition to a clear functional structure and high-tech filling, should have its own special image. The image for the new airport of Simferopol was the fantastic nature of the Crimean peninsula. Above, the terminal resembles the silhouette of a swallow – a beautiful, light and swift bird. The roof becomes a “head”, side galleries (expansion zones), as well as canopies above the stops – the “wings” of the bird, and the pedestrian galleries leading from parking and public stops to the entrance area, turn into a “swallowtail”.
Smooth silhouettes of the building seem to echo the silhouettes of the Crimean hills. At the entrance to the new terminal, it seems that he is covering you with a wave. A well-developed network of undulating canopies and awnings not only protects passengers from rain and sun, but also creates a comfortable pedestrian space. The building of the terminal develops the best features of southern architecture, one of the prototypes of the pedestrian gallery is the famous arcade of Simferopol’s station A.Dushkin. Coming to a spacious area, the newly arrived passengers fall under the canopy of a wide canopy bordering the main facade and the space of the central park.
The internal space of the terminal has many prototypes at once. First of all, these are the famous Crimean caves and grottoes. Smooth silhouettes of the arches are formed with the help of a light ring-shaped construction, surrounding the column and expanding to the ceiling, with built-in decorative lighting. The divergent circles of the structure, like circles on the water, remind us of the proximity of the sea.
Through the lanterns of the upper world, as if through the trees, sunlight breaks through, forming a delicate shadow on the floor. The difference in the roof with additional lighting makes the interior even more light and airy. A unique feature of the waiting area is the green-lounge space, located on the upper level and representing a tropical greenhouse, with a panoramic view of the take-off field.
