Synthesis of modern and historical interior in a house on Olkhon Island.

Until recently, Olkhon Island was a sacred territory, which only shamans could visit until the 20th century.
The task that we faced was very unusual: to create a premium and atmospheric interior in a log house! In any log house, the main element is the hearth.
The fireplace is located in the center – it is dominant and zones the space. On one side there is a large soft zone, on the other – a logistics hall with access to the stairs and a small private soft zone next to it, decorated with a bear skin.
The fireplace is decorated with tiles as a reference to details characteristic of Russian architecture. At the same time, the shape of the fireplace itself is very modern and minimalistic. In order for it not to visually clutter the space, part of the fireplace is lined with a mirror. Thanks to this, its silhouette partially dissolves in space. At the bottom of the fireplace is a woodpile. The logs are covered with supports. And the floor near the fireplace is protected by cast-iron panels with a picturesque patina. The coffered ceiling is a memorable, spectacular solution that creates stiffening ribs for the ceiling and, thanks to the cellular structure, improves the acoustics of the room. The interior has many references to the local identity. Behind the sofa, in a glass display case that protects from dust, you can see national clothes and musical instruments.
The divine ruler of Olkhon, Khan-Khute-babai, is displayed in the interior as a carved wooden idol. One of the walls is decorated with a Mongolian tapestry, and the soft area is highlighted by a Buryat horsehair carpet. For contrast, next to expensive, famous and comfortable furniture, such as Poliform chairs or a Bonaldo sofa, there is custom furniture that surprises with its simplicity, for example, a coffee table made of double stumps
The openings are decorated with wooden portals made of slabs with backlighting. Stained glass windows give a lot of light, and greenery in tubs enlivens the interior. Engineering communications are made invisible: floor convectors with a wooden grid are designed to match the parquet board, and the air conditioner can easily be confused with a picture frame.

The main element of the kitchen space is a large table for 8 seats, made of a slab of wood and with a metal base.
The kitchen set is ergonomically formed and equipped with all the necessary equipment. Above the table is an art piece in the form of a stabilized coniferous plant, connected to authentic pendant lamps.
Through the huge floor-to-ceiling windows are breathtaking views of the nature of Olkhon Island.

In the hall of the second floor, the main art object is the house itself, details of the construction configuration of the log house, namely the Canadian felling technique. The logs protruding from the wall in steps impress with their massiveness, contrasting with the skillful ease with which they are folded together.
The soft area in the hall, formed by a pair of armchairs, is highlighted by a soft carpet. The cozy atmosphere is created by unusually shaped glass floor lamps, a coffee table made from a tree stump and an authentic tapestry on the wall.
