‘Pearl’ image appeared at the beginning of design works when the building site was offered to architects. The silhouette of a pearl was ideally entered in its trapezoid form. Also was important that the relief of a site gradually went down – in result there was an idea of a lay-out ‘amphitheater’ – houses go down by concentric lines to the public center with park and artificial lake.
The culmination center of the settlement became artificial lake with ‘pearl’ floating restaurant in it.
The semicircle of the public center became the frame for ‘pearl’. There are numbers of townhouses further. At their uniform lay-out sections the architects tried maximally to diversify a silhouette of facades. Townhouses whimsically coil, picking up wavy figure of each other roofs and by that imitating a relief of a bowl. The following line – quatrefoil houses, in each ‘petal’ one separate apartment on each floor is located.
The external contour of the settlement is formed by a very long house, its length is about one and a half kilometers. The house designates the site border and protects internal ‘amphitheater’ from external spontaneous building.
Planning of roads supports the theme of a bowl as well – automobile passages go on perimeters of each quarter, limiting their territory, and foot green parkways are placed in the center. Thus automobiles almost do not disturb inhabitants of settlement ‘microcosm’.

VILLAGE-PEARL (Gerasimenko, archi.ru, 10-07-2008)
When the architects of the workshop of Asadov commissioned by the company “Peresvet-invest” began working on a competitive project for this village, they learned that Zaha Hadid was going to participate in the competition. Subsequently, the participation of the diva was canceled, but the probability of such rivalry, by Alexander Asadov’s own admission, stimulated the authors to search for an integral image, a non-standard plastic idea. The village was turned into a kind of shell with a pearl inside and named accordingly – “the Pearl of Ilyinka”.
Nowadays, as a rule, the real estate name either does not correlate with the architecture, or is “far-fetched”. “Pearl” of the workshop is not the case. Here, the entire design process, from the architectural interpretation of the shape of the proposed site and ending with the name of the village, is subject to a single idea – the creation of a microcosm enclosed in an imaginary “shell” with a pearl inside.
This image arose at the very beginning of the design work, when the architects were offered a plot for construction. Its broken trapezoidal shape perfectly fits the silhouette of a shell. It was also important that the relief of the site gradually decreased – as a result, the idea of planning an “amphitheater” – houses descend in concentric rows to the public center with a Park and an artificial lake.
The center and culmination of the village was an artificial lake with a floating pearl of the restaurant, covered with a mesh, Golden and translucent structure that sparkles in the sun. “Pearl” becomes a beacon for the entire village, from it diverge rays of light that unite the surrounding buildings into one.
The semicircle of the public center became a frame for the”pearl”. Framing consists of the Park, the buildings of school and kindergarten, stadium, the administration building, and a separate section houses. These houses are designed for young people who do not worry about the silence and eager to be involved in the social life of the village. The houses are triangular in plan and each of them consists of several apartments.
Then the rows of townhouses begin. With the same type of planning of their sections, the architects tried to diversify the silhouette of the facades as much as possible. Townhouses whimsically wriggle, picking up the wavy pattern of the roofs of each other and thereby imitating the relief of the shell.
The next row – four-leaf houses, in each “petal” of which there is one separate apartment on each floor. In General, it turns out four volumes collected around located in the center of the glass Elevator shaft – where each apartment is a wooden bridge. According to Andrei Asadov, ” the typology is a combination of private houses and sectional towers, i.e. there are several private houses placed on top of each other.”
The outer contour of the village is formed by a very long house-its length is about one and a half kilometers. The house marks the boundary of the site and protects the internal “amphitheater” from the external spontaneous development, which is already around a lot. The house whimsically wriggles, imitating the ribbed surface of the sink. Its first floors are equipped with terraces for trees and flower beds – here any free space is used for landscaping, even if it is the space between the upper floors. Part of the roof has also been turned into a green Park.
The theme of the shell is also supported by the layout of roads – roadways pass along the perimeter of each quarter, limiting their territory, and pedestrian green boulevards are located in the center. Therefore, the car almost do not disturb the residents of the village “microcosm”. This scheme, modern and environmentally friendly, was developed in already-built Studio of A. Asadov settlement “Barviha-club”. According to Andrei Asadov, then ” this scheme has been successfully implemented and justified itself.” Now architects are actively using this technique in their new works – similarly organized movement in the project of a new quarter South of Domodedovo, which we have already written. The place had an eco-friendly transport scheme and here – it outlines the boundaries and protects the inside of the “shell”.
The village with the pearl is carefully directed. Here, as in the theater, each building plays a role assigned to it, working on a common image. A very interesting image: at the same time it offers realtors a “full set of services” – architecture plus a marketing ploy. And on the other hand – in this image you can see a very accurate, almost literal embodiment of the main theme of all the new suburban settlements – because each of them, in fact – is a kind of shell, an attempt to isolate some territory from the surrounding natural development and create a comfortable, cozy, pleasant space for life, a kind of “pearl”, protected from the outside world by strong walls.
